Payment details, plan changes, pauses and cancellations are all in the member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com) (cancelling once your minimum term is complete). Changes take effect straight away. If you email us instead, the change carries a 30-day notice period and is not final until we confirm it in writing. We strongly encourage using the member app to avoid delays, and to avoid the risk of your email being missed or landing in spam.

No cancellation fees, and a lock-in only for your first 8 weeks. Every membership runs a minimum 8-week term. You can pause during it, and after it you can pause or cancel anytime. Time your account spends on pause does not count towards the 8 weeks. Pauses are capped at a total of 12 weeks in any rolling 12-month period.

You can pause for up to 12 weeks in total in any rolling 12-month period. If you need a longer break than that, we recommend cancelling your membership.

Please note that if you cancel and later rejoin, you will need to pay the sign-up fee again. You will also lose any credits or coupons on your account, along with any founding member or legacy rates you were on.

As soon as you sign up. After signing up, you'll get an email with information about our member app, where you can change your billing date anytime.

Getting started

Trials, your first class, gear, what to expect.

No. We offer one free trial per person.

Any comfortable T-shirt and shorts are fine. No special gear is needed and no shoes are required on the mats. We will provide everything else needed for your first free orientation class.

No. We lend you everything free for your first class. From your second class you need your own gear; the coaches will tell you what to get and where, and our signup offers usually include a free gear pack.

We run as a No-Gi (no uniform) kids program. So no special uniforms are needed.

No. To ensure all members are invested in the health and safety of their training partners we do not allow casuals or drop-ins. Exceptions are made for black belt students and professional athletes only. Email us at admin@teamcompton.co first so we can approve your casual drop in.

You are welcome to stop by and watch a class anytime. If you would like to join in, please book a free class or a short call first at https://teamcompton.co. This helps us make sure we are the right fit and ensures we have enough coaches available to support new students. Because of this, we cannot always accommodate walk-ins for trial classes, but we will do our best.

Absolutely. Our classes are designed for all fitness and experience levels, from complete beginners to advanced students. We structure sessions with a mix of technique drills, optional live sparring, and rest rounds to make sure everyone can train at their own pace. If you're not ready to spar, no problem, just let the coach know and we'll tailor the session to suit your comfort level.

Safety is our top priority. Our coaches work hard to create a safe and supportive training environment and prioritise a gym culture of safe and controlled training. That said, martial arts is a combat sport and occasional bumps and bruises can happen. If you or your child has an existing injury, please let the coach know so we can adjust training accordingly.

You can start immediately after completing your enrolment and reading our welcome email (it has some important info in it).

Unfortunately we don't accept government vouchers.

Billing & account

Payments, pauses, cancellations, changes to your account.

We understand pause limits can be annoying when life gets busy. The reason is when too many memberships are paused at once, we lose an accurate picture of how many people are actively training, and that figure is what we use to determine how many coaches we roster on (and which coaches). This matters most in our junior classes, where maintaining the right coach-to-student ratio is essential. The limit isn't designed to trap anyone. If you ever need a longer break, you're welcome to cancel once any minimum term is complete.

When you pause your membership, you choose the date you'd like to come back. You can pause in whole weeks, from 1 week at a time, and you can use up to 12 weeks in total in any rolling 12-month period.

When your pause starts, we calculate exactly how many days are left in your current billing period and set that aside as a credit. You won't be charged for time you're not training.

When your membership resumes, that credit is automatically applied to your next payment. If you come back partway through a billing period, you're only charged for the days from your return date to your next billing date; and your credit is taken off that amount. Your regular billing date stays the same throughout.

For example: Say you pay $100 every fortnight, with billing dates on the 1st and 15th of each month. You pause on the 10th, with 5 days left in your cycle. Because you already paid for those 5 days but won't be training, you receive a $35.71 credit. You come back on the 23rd, which leaves 6 days until your next billing date on the 29th. Your $35.71 credit is applied against the $42.86 owed for those 6 days of active membership, so your payment on the 29th is $7.15 instead of the usual $100. From the 29th onwards, you're back to your normal $100 every fortnight.

There are two common reasons. Your account may have an overdue payment, as pause and cancel options are hidden while a payment is outstanding. Or you may have used your full pause allowance, which is 12 weeks in any rolling 12-month period. If you have used all 12 weeks, you will need to wait until some of that time falls outside the last 12 months.

If neither of these applies to you, please email us and we will take a look.

No. If you attend a class while paused or cancelled, billing may reactivate without notice.

No. Each membership will need to be paused individually in our member app.

As soon as you sign up. After signing up, you'll get an email with information about our member app, where you can change your billing date anytime.

Unfortunately all memberships are only able to be billed fortnightly.

Please email admin@teamcompton.co and we will arrange it for you.

Yes, family discounts are available for parents with 3 or more kids enrolled simultaneously in our junior program. Please email admin@teamcompton.co to apply.

Our payment processor retries the charge automatically. Update your card in the member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com) and the next retry will go through. If payments keep failing the account falls into arrears, and pause and cancel options are hidden until it is paid up.

Parents

For mums, dads and carers of our kids students.

Sometimes, yes. We'll usually consider it if your child is close to the age cut-off and has been training in the younger group for at least 2 years.

We are here to support every child's journey as best as we can. If your child has been diagnosed with, or is suspected to have, a neurodevelopmental condition, please let us know. Our instructors have experience working with neurodiverse kids and we welcome all children to try our group classes. If we believe your child is not quite ready for a group setting yet, we have some phenomenal partner facilities we can recommend that specialise in giving kids extra support, so they build the foundations to thrive in a group environment.

Our minimum starting age is 4 years old.
