Absolutely. Our classes are designed for all fitness and experience levels, from complete beginners to advanced students. We structure sessions with a mix of technique drills, optional live sparring, and rest rounds to make sure everyone can train at their own pace. If you're not ready to spar, no problem, just let the coach know and we'll tailor the session to suit your comfort level.
Safety is our top priority. Our coaches work hard to create a safe and supportive training environment and prioritise a gym culture of safe and controlled training. That said, martial arts is a combat sport and occasional bumps and bruises can happen. If you or your child has an existing injury, please let the coach know so we can adjust training accordingly.
You can start immediately after completing your enrolment and reading our welcome email (it has some important info in it).
Unfortunately we don't accept government vouchers.
Only for your first 8 weeks, and there are no cancellation fees. Every membership, adults and kids, runs a minimum 8 week term, and after that you can pause or cancel anytime. Time your account spends on pause does not count towards the 8 weeks. Pauses are capped at a total of 12 weeks in any rolling 12-month period.
Any comfortable T-shirt and shorts are fine. No special gear is needed and shoes come off at the mats. We will provide everything else needed for your child's free trial class.
We are here to support every child's journey as best as we can. If your child has been diagnosed with, or is suspected to have, a neurodevelopmental condition, or simply finds focus or behaviour hard in a group, please let us know. Our instructors have experience working with neurodiverse kids and we welcome all children to try our group classes. If we believe your child is not quite ready for a group setting yet, we will tell you honestly and respectfully, and recommend one of our partner facilities that offer a higher level of support, so your child can build the foundations to thrive in a group environment.

We understand pause limits can be annoying when life gets busy. The reason is when too many memberships are paused at once, we lose an accurate picture of how many people are actively training, and that figure is what we use to determine how many coaches we roster on (and which coaches). This matters most in our junior classes, where maintaining the right coach-to-student ratio is essential. The limit isn't designed to trap anyone. If you ever need a longer break, you're welcome to cancel once any minimum term is complete.
When you pause your membership, you choose the date you'd like to come back. You can pause in whole weeks, from 1 week at a time, and you can use up to 12 weeks in total in any rolling 12-month period.
When your pause starts, we calculate exactly how many days are left in your current billing period and set that aside as a credit. You won't be charged for time you're not training.
When your membership resumes, that credit is automatically applied to your next payment. If you come back partway through a billing period, you're only charged for the days from your return date to your next billing date; and your credit is taken off that amount. Your regular billing date stays the same throughout.
For example: Say you pay $100, billed every fortnight, for example on the 1st and the 15th. You pause on the 10th, with 5 days left in your cycle. Because you already paid for those 5 days but won't be training, you receive a $35.71 credit. You come back on the 9th, which leaves 6 days until your next billing date on the 15th. Your $35.71 credit is applied against the $42.86 owed for those 6 days of active membership, so your payment on the 15th is $7.15 instead of the usual $100. From the 15th onwards, you're back to your normal $100 every fortnight.
There are two common reasons. Your account may have an overdue payment, as pause and cancel options are hidden while a payment is outstanding. Or you may have used your full pause allowance, which is 12 weeks in any rolling 12-month period. If you have used all 12 weeks, you will need to wait until some of that time falls outside the last 12 months.
If neither of these applies to you, please email us and we will take a look.
No. Attending a class while paused or after cancelling automatically resumes billing from that day.
No. Each membership will need to be paused individually in our member app.
As soon as you sign up. After signing up, you'll get an email with information about our member app, where you can change your billing date anytime.
Unfortunately all memberships are only able to be billed fortnightly.
You can change your billing date yourself in the member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com). If you get stuck, email admin@teamcompton.co and we will arrange it for you.
Yes, family discounts are available for parents with 3 or more kids enrolled simultaneously in our junior program. Please email admin@teamcompton.co to apply.
Our payment processor retries the charge automatically. Update your card in the member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com) and the next retry will go through. If payments keep failing the account falls into arrears, and pause and cancel options are hidden until it is paid up.

All account changes, including upgrades, downgrades, pauses, cancellations and billing date changes, are made through our member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com) and take effect immediately. The member app is our official channel for membership changes. For anything the app cannot do, email admin@teamcompton.co; changes requested by email carry a 30-day notice period and are not final until a staff member confirms them in writing. Only the account owner can request changes to an account. You can pause at any time, including during your minimum term, and cancel once your minimum term is complete.
Every membership, adults and kids, includes a minimum term of 8 weeks. You can pause during the minimum term, but you cannot cancel until it has been served. Time spent on pause does not count towards the minimum term. Once the minimum term is complete you can cancel at any time in the member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com). There are no cancellation fees.
Accounts can be paused for up to 12 weeks in total in any rolling 12-month period. You can take that as one long break or split it across several shorter pauses, and there is no waiting period in between. Pauses are booked in whole weeks, with a minimum of one week. Pauses cannot be amended retroactively. If you cancel and later rejoin, a $49 rejoining fee applies.
Accounts must be paid up to date before any account change can be processed, including a pause, cancellation, upgrade or downgrade. Any overdue fees may be collected after the change takes effect, without further notice.
Attending a class while paused or after cancelling automatically resumes billing from that day.
Fees stay the same whether you attend or not. Classes and training fees will not be refunded or credited retroactively, regardless of attendance.
Classes missed due to public holidays, gym closures, or scheduling changes are not automatically credited or refunded, including for members on one class per week plans. If your preferred class falls on a public holiday, you're welcome to attend any other class that week, or make up the missed class the week after.
In rare circumstances where classes are cancelled (weather, safety, competitions), classes are not refunded.
Cancelling forfeits previous member rates, training credits and any joining fees paid.
Members who fall into arrears and fail to respond to correspondence (emails and/or calls) may be permanently banned from our facility and all partner facilities.
Account changes are made in the member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com). Anything the app cannot do can be requested, with 30 days notice, by email to our current email address. Any account change mentioned verbally to staff or coaches, or sent by any method other than the member app or email (text message, phone call, social media, in person) will not be actioned. No refund will be issued, under any circumstance, where a member believed a request made this way had been received or would be acted on.
It is the member's responsibility to check our website for our most up-to-date email address before emailing us. While our email address is extremely unlikely to change, we will not take responsibility or issue refunds where a request was sent to an incorrect email address, or was sent to the correct email address but landed in our spam folder. This is why we strongly encourage members to use our member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com), which keeps you in full control of your membership with maximum flexibility.
If your nominated payment method fails, our payment processor will automatically re-attempt to charge it. Keep your payment details current in the member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com) to avoid a failed payment leading to arrears.
Membership changes (pause, cancel, upgrade, downgrade, billing date) are made in the member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com). For anything the app cannot do, email admin@teamcompton.co; it is our official and monitored support channel for questions, concerns and requests. We answer as many texts and calls as we can, but calls and texts to the gym mobile may not get a response, so anything important should go to email. We do not respond to messages on social media.

Continued participation at Team Compton Training Centre is conditional on students (children and adults) being able to train safely, respectfully, and appropriately within a group environment. If a child or adult's behaviour consistently creates safety risks, significantly disrupts classes, or negatively impacts other students' learning or wellbeing, we may determine that our program is not the right fit for them. In these cases, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate enrolment, with or without notice, at our discretion, without providing a reason.
Creating a safe-to-fail, positive, and pressure-free training environment is extremely important to us. Getting good takes a lot of losing, and we want every student and child to feel completely safe making mistakes. For this reason, filming sparring or rolling is strictly prohibited without prior permission from both a coach and your training partner. Separate permission must also be obtained from both parties before posting any footage online.
By enrolling, you acknowledge that martial arts is a contact sport and accept the inherent risks of training.
Do not train while sick, injured, or with any skin infection (including staph or ringworm). Training may only resume once cleared by a medical professional. We cannot issue refunds for training periods missed due to medical issues retroactively. However, you are still welcome to pause or cancel your account.
All cuts, grazes, and open wounds must be fully covered before training.
Fingernails and toenails must be kept trimmed, long hair tied back, and all training gear clean, hygienic and odour-free. All training gear (gi, rashguard, shorts, etc.) must be washed after every session. If you smoke, there must be no residual smoke odour on you or your gear. If there is, you will not be permitted to train.
Members are responsible for bringing their own hygiene items, including nail clippers, bandages, and sports tape. We do not provide or lend these items.
Remove all jewellery before training, including rings, piercings, watches, earrings, and necklaces.
No shoes on the mats at any time. Shoes must be worn off the mats at all times, especially when entering or exiting the gym. If you arrive without shoes, you may not be permitted to train until your feet are cleaned.
Training without a shirt is not permitted unless specifically approved by a coach for competition preparation.
Trial equipment is provided free of charge for your free trial class. After joining, loan gear is available for up to 4 weeks while the coaches guide you on buying your own equipment.
Being late occasionally is fine. If you consistently arrive late, we may ask you to reassess whether we are the right gym for you. Coaches will not repeat material that has already been taught for late-arriving students, as this takes time away from students who arrived on time.
Do not interrupt coaches while they are teaching. If you have a question, wait for a break in instruction.
Please keep off-the-mat conversations to a whisper while a class is running, and do not talk over coaches who are teaching. Take phone calls outside the training area or out of earshot of any running class.
Adults are expected to use appropriate language and conversation topics when children are present in the facility, especially around junior class times.
Do not request security camera footage for specific moves or sparring rounds. We will not provide it.
Members and parents are responsible for any damage caused by themselves or their children to the facility or equipment.
All lost items are placed in the lost property bin. Do not contact coaches or staff at the gym to look for or set aside items. The lost property bin is emptied at the end of each calendar month.
Our member app at https://app.teamcompton.co (kids program: https://app.teamcomptonkids.com) is the official channel for membership changes: pauses, cancellations, upgrades, downgrades and billing date changes. For anything the app cannot do, email admin@teamcompton.co is our official and monitored support channel for questions, concerns and requests. While we endeavour to respond to as many SMS and calls as possible, please ensure all important enquiries are sent to our email. Calls and SMS to the gym mobile number may not receive a response. We do not respond to messages on social media (Instagram, Facebook etc.).
We support competition pathways in every discipline. If you would like to compete, talk to the coaches first and they will guide your next steps. Do not register yourself, or your child, for any competition without checking with coaching staff first. Registering for a competition without checking with the coaches first will result in immediate cancellation of membership.
Sometimes, yes. We'll usually consider it if your child is close to the age cut-off and has been training in the younger group for at least 2 years.
Our minimum starting age is 4 years old.
Part of the terms you agree to when enrolling a child.
Coaching, yelling out or giving technical advice from the sidelines is strictly prohibited. If you have tips or feedback, please share them during water breaks only. Instructors are trained by management to never allow parents to yell out advice or coach from the sidelines. If instructors have to remind a parent a few times, that parent will receive one official warning via email. Any further breaches will result in immediate and permanent membership termination, without exception. We have seen over-zealous sideline coaching make training very uncomfortable for juniors and seriously damage their confidence, hence the strict rules around this subject.
We appreciate your support and encouragement! However, to help students stay focused, please save all cheering, encouragement, and positive feedback for water breaks only.
Except in the case of a potentially serious injury (which is extremely rare), please do not step onto the mats. Coaches will bring your child to you if they are hurt during class. As children progress in the program and build resilience, coaches will, where appropriate for the child's level, start to encourage them to work through minor bumps and bruises independently, without the need for parental comfort or support.
This is deliberate, and part of helping students build confidence and resilience. We can completely understand there may be parents who prefer to step in immediately for minor discomforts or injuries. However, our program may not align with those values, as we have found this can undermine the development of confidence, resilience, and independence in our students.
Dropping children off without prior permission from a coach is strictly prohibited. This permission may be revoked at any time if we feel a child requires parental support.
We love seeing parents who want to train with their kids! Training together can be a lot of fun! However, please do not teach your child techniques unless you have trained extensively. We have had situations where parents taught their children moves they saw online that were incorrect, not allowed, or even illegal, which can be extremely unsafe.
If you or your child have any concerns regarding behaviour, safety, or interactions at training, please contact us as soon as possible. All concerns are taken very seriously and will be addressed until an appropriate resolution is reached. To protect the wellbeing, privacy, and dignity of all children, concerns must be raised directly and privately with us via email only.
Parents and carers must not approach or discuss concerns directly with other students or their parents/carers. Please also be mindful of how you speak about other children in the class when discussing training with your child.
For safety and comfort, children must wear appropriate training clothing that provides full coverage during movement. E.g. Students who may be training in a school uniform with a skirt should wear bike shorts or leggings underneath.
Children who are not participating in the current class must remain quiet and seated within direct eyesight of their parent. To allow instructors to give their full focus and attention to students on the mat, parents must ensure that any other children they bring to the training centre are calm, quiet, and seated.
No students on the mat before class until they are invited on by instructors.
